How did you get into the PR industry?
I was born in California, studied international business in Mexico, and had an interest in communications. In 2011, I did a summer course in New York City about public relations and realized this was my passion. I moved to New York to pursue a master’s from NYU in Public Relations and Corporate Communication. I started working at an agency while going to school, then landed at another agency for over seven years and joined Verizon in March 2020.
What is your favorite PR experience?
Last year, I was honored when I received the PRSA Award recognizing Exceptional Under 35. This was an important moment in my career. As part of our professions, we are always behind the awards, so getting this recognition was a very proud moment for me. In terms of my work, while at the agency, I worked on big brands like AARP, McDonald’s, and Tajín. I really enjoyed being able to work across business categories including CPG, QSR, entertainment, and nonprofit.
What do you love about PR?
I love the ability to communicate powerful messaging and make it accessible to diverse audiences, helping brands bring tools and resources to the community – especially multi-cultural work. I really enjoy that. Being able to provide something valuable to your audience while having a positive impact, it’s very rewarding to me.
Why is PRSA-NY membership so valuable?
Being a member is valuable to me for having access to like-minded individuals who I can learn from and that can have a positive impact on my work. I appreciate having access to insider industry information, webinars, and events that are great for networking and that can help you keep connected with people in our industry.
