32nd ANNUAL PRSA-NY BIG APPLE AWARDS

 

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the 2019 Big Apple award recipients and THANK YOU to the sponsors, partners and guests who helped PRSA-NY celebrate the tremendous work of our leaders, practitioners and clients during the 2019 Big Apple Awards Gala on Monday, June 24th at the Mandarin Oriental, New York.

“Changing the Landscape” was the theme for the evening as #PRpros from across the metro area came together to honor outstanding individual achievements in PR and recognizing the most innovative and strategic communications campaigns or projects of the previous year. For 2019, the entire Big Apple Awards slate was retooled to better reflect the current work, techniques, talents and tools of communicators, marketers, and creative professionals.

2019 BIG APPLE AWARDS:  BY THE NUMBERS

  • Over 300 industry professionals joined for the celebration honoring outstanding individual achievements in PR and recognizing the best communications, marketing and public relations work of 2019

  • 51 crystal awards were presented across 50 campaign and spotlight award categories

  • 89 unique campaigns and entries were selected as nominees

  • 47 agencies and in-house communications teams were responsible for the award-winning work

BEST OF …

  • Butler Associates and Barasch McGarry were named the Best of the Best for their campaign titled “Sounding the Alarm on Male Breast Cancer in the 9/11 Community.”  [view entry]

The Big Apple Leadership in Diversity Award recognizes outstanding PR agencies and corporations that have made exceptional efforts and contributions in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion. 2019 KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Well-known entertainment publicist Yvette Noel-Schure spoke positively about the ability of the public relations profession to shape a broader narrative on diversity and inclusion.


GUEST PRESENTERS

The special guest presenters were Rachel Strauss-Muniz and Jamie Fernandez, hosts of the award-winning podcast Latinos Out Loud.


ENTERTAINMENT


The evening’s entertainment was provided by award-winning vocalist,
Lauren Jelencovich
, an accomplished singer who is currently touring with Yanni in the U.S. and abroad, and Matthew Whitaker, a 17-year-old, award-winning jazz pianist who is touring internationally.


ABOUT THE BIG APPLE AWARDS

The New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America established the Big Apple Awards program in 1987 to encourage excellence in public relations. The program has evolved to keep pace with a rapidly changing industry and continues celebrate the exciting and innovative successes of talented professionals working in the heart of the communications universe. Today, a Big Apple Award is recognized as one of the highest honors bestowed in public relations.
