The rise of social media has been a game changer for crisis communicators. Join PRSA-NY and Social Simulator for a deep-dive into the guiding principles of digital crisis communications in a virtual session that is tailored to digital natives and newcomers alike.

Best practice theory will be brought to life via real-world case studies and the session will culminate in an immersive crisis simulation exercise. Attendees will get to work in virtual teams to respond to a real-time escalating scenario using innovative simulation software, before receiving constructive feedback from the session’s experienced moderators.

MEET THE MODERATOR


Christopher Malpass
 
Chris is an expert in crisis and reputation management and leads Social Simulator in the USA. He has worked extensively in the field of crisis communications, helping organisations from across sectors to develop, embed and test crisis preparedness programmes.

Prior to joining The Social Simulator, he worked for Regester Larkin, a specialist crisis and issues management consultancy. Chris delivers regular lectures on crisis communications. He has an MA International Public Relations from the Cardiff School of Journalism.

Julianna Hutson
Julianna Hutson is a seasoned strategic communication executive who currently works at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She has a broad range of experience working at the international level in private, government and non- profit. Her work with C-Suite executive leadership includes advising a head of state, ministers of government and corporate leadership across all facets of the industry including public affairs, crisis communication, public relations, advocacy initiatives, employee relations and strategic planning.



 

 


Amina Colter
Amina Colter is a vice president on the health and multicultural communications teams in Edelman’s Atlanta office. Amina has extensive experience in healthcare public relations, providing strategic counsel to pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic and health and wellness companies. She oversees the development and implementation of integrated healthcare communications campaigns targeting both clinicians and consumers.

She is also part of Edelman’s recently formed racial and social justice communications task force which provides strategic counsel and oversight on developing short-term and long-term internal and external communications efforts in direct response to the current social justice movement and diversity and inclusion-related issues. As part of Edelman’s multicultural communications practice, Amina works to ensure clients and brands create thoughtful and effective proactive and reactive multicultural communications strategies that include but are not limited to culturally competent message development, traditional and social media engagement, identification of key influencers and spokespersons, C-suite diversity and inclusion counsel, and more. Prior to joining Edelman, Amina worked for GCI Health where she led multi-channel U.S. and global campaigns and events, including product launches, media tours and advisory panel meetings for Abbott Vascular and Structural Heart, Biogen, City of Hope, the Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates and Pfizer.Amina began her healthcare public relations career at Chandler Chicco Agency where she provided media relations support, corporate communications consultation, and implemented public education campaigns for a number of biotechnology and specialty pharmaceutical companies, including the Johnson & Johnson-companies Advanced Sterilization Products and Diabetes Care Franchise, AbbVie, HYCOR Biomedical Inc., and Allergan’s Eye Care business – RESTASIS®, OZURDEX® and LUMIGAN®.Amina’s broad range of communications experience includes: product approvals and consumer brand campaign launches; media relations, including consumer and trade; stakeholder relations, including physician and third-party advocacy; corporate communication, including internal communications, issues management and change management.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Public Health from George Washington University in Washington D.C.
