Meet the Moderator

Jackie Cardozo is currently the Account Executive at Business Wire focusing on multicultural  communications projects for their client  base in New York. Her clients include Fortune 500 companies, emerging start-ups, and non-profits. In addition to helping clients determine their most effective PR distribution needs, Jackie supports her clients by keeping them abreast of the latest industry trends  and practices.

Jackie recently transferred from the South Florida office, where she managed Agency partnerships in Florida and Latin America. She is   involved in different PR local organizations. She is currently the VP of  Programming at PRSA-NY and the Scholarship Director for  HPRA-NY and is a past-president of HPRA- Miami.  Jackie received her undergraduate degree in Journalism and MassCommunication   and holds a   Master's Degrees in Economics and Marketing Management.

Lina Sands is the Director of Marketing for HITN (Hispanic Information Telecommunications Network). 

HITN’s is the first non-commercial Spanish language network in the United States available across 44   Million US Household’s.  Lina is   responsible for leading marketing strategy and building innovative   solutions that drive awareness, expansion, and revenue opportunities   for the continued growth and   development of HITN TV, Digital and HITN Learning Business divisions. With over 16+Years of   Marketing  & Sales strategy experience in new business development, cross platform brand executions, and content partnerships, Lina has   successfully navigated major transformations across companies such  as The New York Times, NBC, WNYC Public Radio and CNN.

Lina’s cross cultural understanding of marketing, media and public relations help strengthen HITNs mission in advancing the educational,   socio-economic and cultural aspirations of the US Latino Community.  A native New Yorker, Lina holds a B.A. in Communications Arts and Journalism from CW Post/Long Island University.

Angela Virviescas is a PR Director for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. In this role, she oversees the publicity strategy and efforts for the network's primetime programming. With 10+ years of agency and in-house PR experience, Angela is passionate about driving meaningful conversations with cross-cultural audiences and digital storytelling. As a result, she has successfully led and executed 360 multicultural communication campaigns for some of today's top Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Angela worked at Boden Agency in Miami and at Edelman's multicultural practice in New York City, where she led the U.S. Hispanic PR strategy for brands such as McDonald's USA, Heineken USA, Unilever and Johnson & Johnson. Under these brands, Angela also worked on award-winning multicultural PR campaigns for top entertainment events like FIFA World Cup, Latin GRAMMY Awards, Tribeca Film Festival and EUFA Champion League.

Born in Colombia, raised in New York, and currently residing in Miami, Virviescas holds a BS in Public Relations with a minor in Journalism from St. John's University in Queens, NY.

Alfonso Diaz is an International Entertainment Journalist and the Director and Host of Tenemos Que Hablar (Nuestra Tele), the award-winning live television show broadcasting in all Spanish-speaking countries.
