Meet the Moderator

Margarita Miranda-Abate, Head (Director), Communications & Patient Advocacy Group LACan, Novartis Oncology has significant strategic communications and marketing, having led global and North America business across a variety of brands throughout her career. She has a deep love of brand marketing and helping to make emotional connections with consumers to build genuine brand loyalty and love.

Today, Marg, as she is known, has transitioned to a new adventure in healthcare and pharma at Novartis and continues her passion to deliver solid strategic communications to build brand loyalty across Latin America, Mexico and Canada. A passionate advocate for staff development, leadership and career-pathing and has served as a mentor and leader for emerging leaders. Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, Margarita Miranda-Abate most recently oversaw the travel and tourism segment within MSL's consumer lifestyle group. Her main duties included serving as the Global Integration and Planning lead for the Mexico Tourism Board, spearheading a wide variety of communications needs and marketing programs for our neighbor to the south across marketing and creative, media, digital, public relations and social. The position spanned responsibilities that included global strategic brand building, integrated marketing and project management. Skilled in navigating international local market and cultural nuances, as well as government relations, issues and crisis management and public affairs, this role was a pinnacle of Margarita’s 20-year wide-ranging professional career in public relations that has crossed between the Hispanic and general marketplaces.


Meet the Panelists

Meredith LeJeune is an award-winning public relations professional who has developed and executed numerous high-impact media relations and social media campaigns. A 15-year industry veteran, LeJeune has served on the boards of journalism and public relations organizations including the Hampton Roads chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Black Public Relations Society Atlanta and New York chapters, and the Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals, a local chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. Recognized as one of PRSA New York’s 2017 Top 15 professionals under 35 to follow and a member of the chapter’s Young Professionals Advisory Committee, LeJeune is founder of Thought Bubble Communications. In this role, she frequently partners with clients and other agencies to develop and launch national marketing and public relations campaigns for tech and vacation rental industry startups, as well as leading brands such as The National Black MBA Association, Coca-Cola and Toyota.

Annie Scranton is President & Founder of Pace PR. She has 8+ years experience as a TV producer at major networks including CNN, Fox News, CNBC, MSNBC & ABC, where she booked guest appearances for popular shows like Good Morning America. For the past decade, Annie has been leveraging this experience and expertise to grow her own agency, Pace PR, where she focuses on getting her clients regular TV and media coverage to build their brands.

Annie is a graduate of Smith College where she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the weekly newspaper, The Sophian. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the New York Smith College Club and as an Executive Committee Member of Catholic Big Sisters & Big Brothers, New York Women in Communications, The Step Up Network, and Ladies who Launch. She is currently an Executive Council Member of the Ellevate Network.
