We are pleased to introduce PRSA-NY’s Meet the PR PRide & Media Pros! All are welcome to join PRSA-NY on Wednesday, June 24 at 5pm ET for this FREE webinar panel event, as we meet with PR PRide & Media Pros to discuss the various challenges LGBTQIA+ media and PR colleagues and professionals are facing right now and how everyone can work better together. We will highlight ways to come together and support by collaboration, sharing best practices, media pitching tips, and discussing recent relevant campaigns showcasing the amazing work over the years or recently.

Martin Tettey, PRSA-NY’s Co-Chair of Diversity & Inclusion

 

Martin Tettey is as ambitious as he is enthusiastic about Public Relations, communications, and brand development. Martin started his career working with several luxury brands, helping drive creative campaigns across the US, Latin America, and Europe. He's a firm believer in diversity and inclusion and advocates strongly for human rights. His entrepreneurial spirit expands to his love of traveling. Traveling around the world fills Martin with inspiration, knowledge, and appreciation for different customs and cultures—so when not at the office, you can find him globe-trotting around the world, adding to his list of over 21-countries & 50 cities visited to date.

Igee Okafor, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of BOND OFFICIAL

 

Igee Okafor, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of BOND OFFICIAL, is a determined businessman and personal style connoisseur. Igee’s significant point of view on essential articles of men’s clothing has sealed his position as an industry authority. Igee started contributing articles as an intern for Jones Magazine and the Source in the spring Of 2014. In 2015, he worked directly under CEO Of Nylon Media and Socialyte at the time, Daniel Saynt. In continuing efforts to tackle digital marketing while also running www.igeeokafor.com full time as a men’s style blog, Igee successfully secured collaborations with some of the industry's most respected tastemakers including MR PORTER, GQ, Carl F. Bucherer and more. 

 

 

Rich Ferraro, Chief Communications Officer, GLAAD

 

Rich oversees GLAAD’s Communications department as well as GLAAD's Press, Talent Relations, News and Rapid Response, and Creative departments. He also leads GLAAD's social media team, which was recognized as an Official Honoree at the 2020 Webby Awards in the category for “Social: Public Service & Activism.” Ferraro leads much of GLAAD's behind-the-scenes work with journalists, content creators, social media platforms, and global brands. Since he started at GLAAD in 2008, Ferraro has worked on hundreds of LGBTQ-inclusive media projects and in 2015 he received a Daytime Emmy Award as part of the team behind the MTV and Logo documentary “Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word.” He currently sits on Twitter's Trust & Safety Council and Facebook's Network of Support, organizations that provide feedback on LGBTQ policy and inclusion to both platforms. He has advised companies including Delta, P&G, Kellogg's, Absolut, Bud Light, among many others, on LGBTQ-inclusive advertising and has programmed LGBTQ private events featuring global CEOs during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. He also launched GLAAD's first LGBTQ-inclusive books for children and families through a partnership with Little Bee Books. He is also an Executive Producer of the GLAAD Media Awards stage show and leads the selection process for the GLAAD Media Award nominees, honorees, and award recipients. Ferraro recently returned to GLAAD after serving as a Senior Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Viacom. During his time at Viacom he worked on MTV’s 2016 election campaign which drew attention to issues including immigration, LGBTQ equality, and racial justice. He launched Logo’s LGBTQ public affairs department and led press strategy for MTV and Logo documentaries, campaigns and shows. His work on MTV's Transgender Awareness Week campaign was recognized with a Golden Beacon Award from the Association of Cable Communicators and his work on Logo's #all50 marriage equality campaign was a finalist for a Cynopsis Social Good Award. Prior to Viacom, Ferraro spent over six years enhancing and growing GLAAD’s communications and programs departments. He launched GLAAD’s Spirit Day campaign and oversaw media strategy and advocacy for winning work on issues including marriage equality, transgender inclusion in the Miss Universe pageant, the expansion of gender options on Facebook, and the campaign to end the Boy Scouts of America’s ban on gay scouts. He is a frequent voice on LGBTQ issues in the media, having appeared in the Associated Press, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Buzzfeed, Vanity Fair, The Advocate, and on CNN. He received a Global Influencer Fellowship from the United Nations Foundation, was named as part of the 'Next Generation of Stoneall' by NYC Pride, and was chosen among the Next Generation of LGBT Leaders by the Obama White House.  He is a graduate of The George Washington University and a proud native of NYC.

 

 

Eboné F. Bell, Founder and Editor-In-Chief of Tagg Magazine and Tagg Communication LLC

 

Eboné F. Bell is the founder and Editor-In-Chief of Tagg Magazine and Tagg Communication LLC. After seeing a lack of queer women represented in local publications (around DMV), she decided to start a magazine and website to tell stories, provide resources and create events. Eboné was recently featured in Forbes Magazine as an "Inspiring Black Entrepreneur Changing Our World." In addition to running a successful business, she shares her knowledge and passion at conferences, festivals, fundraisers, panel discussions, and similar events across the country.

Diane Anderson-Minshall, CEO and Editorial Director of Pride Media Inc.

 

Diane Anderson-Minshall is a queer, Indigenous journalist, editor, author, and activist, who has received numerous awards for her work. She is the CEO and Editorial Director of Pride Media Inc., the largest publisher of LGBTQ-focused content in the United States, and the first woman to ever hold the position at the company. Pride Media is considered the leading voice in the LGBTQ community within the United States and abroad. Anderson-Minshall also serves as editorial director of all five brands: Out, The Advocate, Plus, Pride, and OutTraveler, overseeing 15 editors, three social media experts, and five creative arts staffers who each work across the brands. Prior to her new position, Diane had previously served as the editorial director for The Advocate, the country’s oldest and most powerful LGBTQ publication through her role as founder and CEO of Retrograde Communications. Anderson-Minshall remains at the helm of Retrograde Communications, a modern editorial services and content development firm, which produces content and white label experiences for corporations, nonprofits, and destinations/tourism outlets, including Marriott, the Kaiser Family Foundation, Walgreens, AT&T, and more. The agency had previously partnered with Pride Media and was a key producer of content for The Advocate and Plus magazines. She is married to transgender author Jacob Anderson-Minshall, who is the editor in chief of OutTraveler, as well as production editor of Out, Plus, and The Advocate. Jacob and Diane have been married 30 years (some of them legally). They wrote about their experience transitioning from a lesbian couple to husband and wife in their memoir, Queerly Beloved: A Love Story across Genders, for which they were received the Goldie award for best creative non-fiction book from the Golden Crown Literary Society. The pair also co-authored the Blind Eye mystery series with the titles Blind Curves, Blind Faith, and Blind Leap, all from the largest LGBT publisher, Bold Strokes Books.

Loren Antonio Durán is a well-versed public relations professional, travel expert, and former airline spokesperson specializing in strategic social and traditional media relations. Loren is an Account Supervisor at Finn Partners specializing in travel. Loren graduated from St. John’s University in New York with a degree in Public Relations.
